The Plum Creek Railroad is an HO scale 12' x 16' "C" shaped model railroad layout. It's a fictional freelance short line railroad set in 1968, that interchanges with the PRR (Pennsylvania Railroad), UNI (Unity Railway), B&LE, (Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad), URR (Union Railroad), and the TCR (Turtle Creek Railroad - also fictional because the TCR was founded in 1982).

A 2.8 scale mile single track mainline connects North Bessemer and Saltsburg through Export, and a branch line runs from Murrysville, through Export to Jeanette.

Like other NMRA Mid Central Region Division 2 layouts, the layout is built and designed for the operations and running of scale model trains, servicing industries located along the main and branch lines.

Along with car cards and way bills, a block system using DC controllers power the trains.

Construction started in November 2002, in June 2004, the last piece of track on the mainline was placed and work was started on the scenery. In 2011 the layout was moved from a bedroom in Penn Hills to a basement in Plum. The town of Jeanette was then added to expand the layout from an "L" into a "C" shape. Scenery on the layout is about 85% complete, with operations for 1 to 5 operators.
